Carbon Offsets or carbon credits are generated by the April Salumei project for avoiding the deforestation and degradation that would take place if the project was logged. These carbon offsets have been audited against the Verified Carbon Standard to ensure they comply with possibly the most rigorous voluntary standard available.
In addition to this the April Salumei REDD Project has also been validated to the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standards to demonstrate community involvement and benefits from this implementation of the project.
You can purchase credits directly from the project to offset or reduce your carbon footprint knowing the majority of funds received are assisting the development of these remote communities. Alternately you can make a donation to support our priority projects or get involved with our crowd sourcing option and current project.
Whilst the investors and established companies have an important role in the Voluntary Market the project supports the position of the International Emissions Trading Association ‘that the sales of VERs to the general public who are not familiar with the voluntary carbon market is unadvisable”.
The project does support the purchase of VERs by companies and individuals to offset their GHG emissions however the project does not recommend or promote the sale of VERs as an appropriate investment by individuals who are not familiar with the voluntary carbon market.
